[Ken needed to think.  After all, there's lots to think about, this place, the weird ass stuff that happens here, not to mention the fact that people are getting back abilities that are superhuman, but perhaps they aren't out to kill him or cause mayhem or get immortality out of it.

So, he went to the place he felt the most comfortable.  You can now find the former soccer pro doing the legit thing he does best, showing off his skills with a soccer ball at Tiger Field, the field out by the high school.  Why there instead of the park? Its cause it has goal posts of course.  He's camped out in the middle of the wide open space and is willing to do tricks for you.  Seriously, movement helps him cope.  So feel free to bother him, try and steal the ball, talk  or just applaud, he's actually quite good and doesn't mind an audience.

Right now he's just bouncing the ball off his head meditatively.]

Sure I can teach you! [You're talking to the king of being violent, or well, he will be later in his canon, but more importantly, he's used to coaching the kids in soccer in his old neighbourhood]

Do you want to learn how to play mainly, or do you want to learn to juggle the ball first?

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Burn's suck. [He knows that from experience]

[Ed grinned at the affirmative.] Great! I guess...probably learn the basics first, right?

Heh. I've had worse, trust me.

[He reassured the other, before taking off his coat and jacket, wearing just the singlet, revealing the auto-mail right arm underneath as he stretches.]

[Well, that's not something you see every day]

Yeah, I think I believe you there. [Well, at least it looks like something innocuous from home]

First thing, with soccer, only the goalie can use their hands, all the other players have to use everything but.

[Nope. Neither is the almost-healed burn marks from where he had been grabbed around the throat, now it wasn't as hidden by the shirt.]

Okay. So, we can use our feet and knees and head to move the ball, but not the hands? Right. Sounds easy enough.

[He sticks out his tongue to distract himself]

It's harder then it looks. Here. [He tosses the ball at Ed]

[And Ed initially puts his hands out before mentally cursing at himself and ducking slightly to try and make the ball land on his head to bounce it back to Ken.]

See? Not so easy to rewire your brain not to use your hands to catch something flying at your head. [He bounces it off his own head, then his knee, and then down to the ground via his ankle]

I guess not, yeah. You've obviously had a lot of practice though from the looks of it. I guess I never really had time for this sort of thing, back home.

Soccer's one of the few things I'm good at. The other being a pack mule for my coworkers.

Ok, so, basically soccer is about kicking the ball where you want it to go. You have more control if you use the inside of your foot, not the toe. [He noticed that that had rhymed and he laughed a bit to himself.]

[Ed gave a nod.]

Yeah, I noticed you were mostly kicking it. Doesn't sound too hard.

[Though he did make a note to try be careful with his left foot with the auto-mail, of course.]

[Think of the torque baby]

It's not, but it is, if that makes any sense. [Ken kicked the ball over to Ed] We'll work on that first.

[Ed gave a small smirk, before his gaze dropped to the ball when Ken kicked it over to him, shifting his foot so the ball hit the inside of his foot as Ken had demonstrated. He was used to being taught in a practical manner like this, learning by doing, and it was instinctive to strive to get it right, after the numerous beatings Izumi had wrought the brothers until they had her teaching down satisfactorally.]

[Learning by doing was the way Ken learned too, that and numerous knocks on the head, so it was by far the easiest way for him to teach too.]

Hey, you're getting the hang of it pretty fast. [He shifted his position] Now lets try something in not a straight line.

Heh. Well, I guess it's habit after Teacher beat us when we gave wrong answers?

[Ed gave a nervous laugh at that, before Ken mentioned kicking it and he nodded.]

So, like to the side or diagonally?

[Watches the other shift before giving another nod and kicking the ball to him, surprisingly agile and accurate despite his prosthetics due to his martial arts training when he was a kid.]

Well, some things you just gotta learn by being run over by other guys in cleats and being hit in the head with a ball all day. But really, beating? That's a little harsh. [And grounds for child abuse if Ed means it at all seriously]

But yeah, you never really know where your team mate that you're passing to is going to be in relation to you.

[Ed just gave another nervous laugh in response, he knew that despite how strict and tough she was on the brothers she had come to care for them almost as much as, if just actually as much as if they were her own sons, over the years they had known her.]

I guess that makes sense though, you're right. So, you just need to get it past the goalie person into that net?

[He nods]

Yeah, that's the basic goal of the game. Makes it sound easy doesn't it.
