[Ken had gotten the mail, as per his usual routine. The letter from the town was unusual however. It couldn't be something from home, that only came after the town had a hissy fit.  So, he opened it up after a moments of hesitation and couldn't believe it. How could the town have that much power?

Still....the guys....Miakis...they were all at stake, and after all this wasn't any different from what he did at home. Of course, that line of thought stopped as soon as he saw the name of his target.

Japan.

The country he had used his second chance at life to protect time after time, from mad scientist to corrupt politicians, to evil cabals of psychically powered people bent on world destruction.  Could he really kill the personification of his country?]


[John Doe Park]

[He hadn't stopped to talk long with the people at home about the letter, in fact, he'd run out to the park as soon as he could. He needed to think, he needed to run around and not think, which ever worked to make him feel better. So there he was, running laps about the park, wonder what the hell to do next.]

I...yes...I do. I promise it won't be long alright? [Really this is a little unnecessary, but he needs outside, he needs to think about this whole business. Ken knows this is just going to make her worry and be mad but he has to or else he's going to go insane.]

She nudges him back, her expression softening a bit.]

I kinda need to get out too, so I guess I can't be too mad at you~

[Miakis trails off and wraps both her arms around him in a tight hug. She knows she should get going, but... not yet. Goodness knows what will happen out there, or when they'll see each other again. :|]

[Ken wished he could stay here forever, safe inside and warm in her arms. He lingers as long as he can but they both have things to do.]

[She buries her face in his chest, still reluctant to let go. When she speaks up, her voice is muffled and barely audible:] Love you.

[And then, slowly, she releases him, unwinding her arms and sitting up straight again.]

I love you too. [He lets her go slowly, and clings to her hand for another minute]

[She gives his hand a good, long squeeze before finally standing up and looking towards the door.]

We're going to Lilly's place -- 769 Bunker Street. [She smiles warmly at him.] I'll see you there~

I'll see you there. [He smiles back and gives her a quick kiss. If only all missions could start like this instead of a fuzzy video tape.]
